About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator at Booz Allen Hamilton is responsible for providing technical support for DoD employees on NMCI and DoD legacy networks. This role involves leveraging expertise in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) to maintain and troubleshoot databases, ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The administrator will perform installations, monitor compliance, and analyze security guides while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance database functionality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for DoD employees needing IT assistance on NMCI and DoD legacy networks.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshoot database issues in coordination with end-users, DBAs, and server administrators.
  • Guide application users, testers, developers, and team members on database functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of database architecture and application functionality.
  • Install routine and emergency database patches, upgrades, and backups.
  • Monitor database audit trails to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Review and analyze Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) against the Oracle database environment and WebLogic environment.
  • Perform monitoring, audit trail analysis, performance tuning, backups, and recovery of databases using Oracle tools.
  • Conduct initial testing of new systems and analyze test failures.
  • Research Oracle database business process solutions and assess their viability in the client environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience using Oracle 10g, 11g, 12g, or 19c.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Experience using Oracle tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Toad, Golden Gate, RMAN, WebLogic, and Data Guard.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and query languages for database operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of data mining, data storage, and data warehousing concepts and technology.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • CompTIA Security+ or information assurance certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a government environment.
  • Experience in mitigating Security Technical Implementation Guides findings.
  • Knowledge of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related technical degree.
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
