About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator role at Apetan Consulting is a senior position focused on database administration within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role involves supporting both on-premises and cloud databases, ensuring high availability and integrity of database environments, and collaborating with various teams to maintain and enhance database implementations.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of database environments.
• Ensure integrity and high availability of database environments.
• Build/manage on-prem VM and as-a-service cloud implementations.
• Set up monitoring/alerting and perform administration tasks.
• Provide application consulting and performance tuning.
• Conduct version upgrades and automations.
• Review access methods and perform security compliance checks.
• Coordinate with vendors and manage ticketing processes.
• Mentor team members and share knowledge with peers.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of performance tuning, monitoring/alerting, and observability.
• Experience in process/query analysis and database consistency checks.
• Proficient in maintenance routines, upgrades, and patching.
• Experience in handling physical/logical backups and data refreshes.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix shell commands or Windows PowerShell or Python.
• Ability to collaborate with DBA peers and mentor team members.
• Experience in multi-tasking and managing multiple environment builds.
• Willingness to work off-hours for application release support and maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD deployments using GitHub Actions, GitHub, and Jenkins.
• 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
• Experience in installation and configuration of non-RAC and multi-node RAC environments.
• Knowledge of managing disks with ASM and using OEM for alerts.
• Experience in managing database backup/recovery using RMAN and data pump.
• Familiarity with performance tuning using ADDM, AWR, and index optimizations.
• Experience with Golden Gate configuration and troubleshooting.
• General familiarity with Oracle 23ai architecture.
