About the position

We're searching for talented individuals who provide Oracle database administration support to a key government customer. This program will maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of our country's most important missions both at home and abroad. We are looking for an Oracle Database Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and testing of a complex data infrastructure in support of our customer needs. This individual will work with network, systems, and application engineers to manage the database engineering and administration of systems for complex and high-volume data processing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience using a variety of ingest methods and data management techniques, which includes a variety of data types, database functionality, compliance standards, and availability requirements. This individual will work closely with the customer, project managers, and engineers to facilitate communication to all stakeholders. The Oracle Database Administrator shall possess the following capabilities: Collaborate with a cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers to support a high volume and complex data system. Assist with the design of network architectures based on customer data requirements and industry best practices. Provide recommendations on how best to support ongoing maintenance and enhancements of data systems and platforms. Development of unique solutions that will meet customer requirements and industry best practices. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Write and update technical documentation such as data system documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and testing of complex data infrastructure.
  • Manage database engineering and administration of systems for high-volume data processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support complex data systems.
  • Assist in designing network architectures based on customer data requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance and enhancements of data systems.
  • Develop unique solutions to meet customer requirements and industry best practices.
  • Write and update technical documentation for data systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience in database engineering and administration.
  • Two (2) years' experience designing, installing, and administrating Oracle databases.
  • Experience in the lifecycle of database engineering and administration.
  • Knowledge of database security analysis and vulnerability remediation process.
  • Expertise utilizing Oracle engineered systems such as Exadata, Big Data, MiniCluster, or SuperCluster.
  • Current expertise using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQL*Plus, and SQL Developer.
  • Extensive experience in database architecture, design, and processing models.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with administration and configuration of database solutions for document and geospatial data.
  • Prior experience supporting database systems for the U.S. Government.
  • Experience delivering or integrating solutions using RDBMS and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience transitioning solutions from RDBMS to NoSQL technologies.
  • Competence in scripting languages such as Windows, Korn/Bash, Perl, Python.
  • Experience transitioning into Cloud environments.
