About the position

As an Oracle Database Administrator at Booz Allen, you will play a crucial role in managing and securing Oracle Database Management Systems (DBMS) that support Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) missions. Your technical expertise and people skills will be essential as you work to refine and maintain database systems that warehouse vital meteorological and oceanographic mission data. This position requires a proactive approach to database tuning and performance optimization, ensuring that the systems are not only functional but also efficient and secure. In this role, you will be responsible for performing backup and recovery operations, configuring database parameters, and designing prototypes based on logical data models. You will implement policies and procedures that ensure the security and integrity of the database, providing peace of mind to your clients. Utilizing tools such as Oracle Spatial Engine, Xymon, Elastic Search, and automation scripting, you will identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement within a mission-critical database environment. Your work will have a direct impact on Naval fleet operations by enabling real-time access to essential meteorological and oceanographic data, which is critical for safety in navigation, warfare operations, and undersea missions. Responsibilities

  • Refine and maintain Oracle database systems warehousing meteorological and oceanographic mission data.
  • Implement database tuning and performance optimization strategies.
  • Perform backup and recovery operations for Oracle databases.
  • Configure database parameters to ensure optimal performance.
  • Design prototypes based on logical data models.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure database security and integrity.
  • Utilize Oracle Spatial Engine, Xymon, Elastic Search, and automation scripting to identify and resolve issues.
  • Provide real-time access to vital meteorological and oceanographic data to support Naval operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience providing database administration support to enterprise Oracle Database Management Systems (DBMS).
  • Experience implementing or maintaining Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) services.
  • Experience applying and documenting STIGs to Oracle DBMS in support of cybersecurity accreditation and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Spatial Engine.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree.
