About the position

This position will provide on-site Oracle Database Administrator services for a Department of Defense (DOD) client. The primary focus will be on the day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of Oracle databases across various environments, including Development, Testing, Acceptance, and Production. The role requires collaboration with Application Administrators and Developers to support database sizing, performance optimization, and organization to effectively support applications. Additionally, the position involves shell scripting and automation of routine tasks, as well as managing ETL processes for data coming in from external sources. The Oracle Database Administrator will also support Oracle Data Guard databases to ensure that standby databases are current and operational. Knowledge of Oracle Grid Control is essential for automating jobs and creating materialized views to support applications. The role includes promoting code from Development and Testing environments to Acceptance and Production, identifying and resolving bugs, applying Oracle patches, and troubleshooting performance issues as they arise. Backup and restoration of databases using RMAN and CommonVault, as well as NetApp Snapshots, are also key responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of Oracle databases in various environments (Dev, Test, Acceptance, Production).
  • Collaborate with Application Administrators and Developers to support database sizing and performance.
  • Automate routine tasks through shell scripting.
  • Manage ETL data coming in from external sources.
  • Support Oracle Data Guard databases to ensure standby databases are current.
  • Utilize Oracle Grid Control to automate jobs.
  • Create materialized views to support applications.
  • Promote code from Development/Testing to Acceptance and Production environments, identifying bugs.
  • Apply Oracle patches as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues as they arise.
  • Backup databases using RMAN and CommonVault.
  • Restore databases via RMAN and/or NetApp Snapshots.

Requirements

  • Preference for experience in the management, maintenance, and sustainment of Oracle version 12c or greater database environments.
  • Hands-on administration of Oracle databases in a production environment is preferred.
  • Certifications in CompTIA Security+ or government-approved IT Security Certification (e.g., CISSP) and Oracle Certified Associate (or above).
  • Experience and knowledge in Data Guard and/or Replication is preferred.
  • Demonstrate mastery in at least two of the following areas: Database backup and recovery (including RMAN), SQL/PLSQL tuning and optimization, Data replication, and Database security.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to maintain Secret clearance eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle Grid Control.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning tools and techniques.
