About the position

The Database Analyst position focuses on the migration of Oracle databases to Azure SQL, providing essential guidance and support throughout the process. The role requires a deep understanding of both Oracle and SQL databases, as well as experience in cloud database environments. The analyst will be responsible for developing a strategic plan for migrating existing Oracle and SQL-backed applications to the public cloud, ensuring that the transition aligns with the department's program objectives. This includes advising on governance pathways and creating comprehensive technical documentation that outlines the future system architecture. The position also involves collaboration with various teams to ensure successful integration and deployment of SQL with external sources and applications. The analyst will perform other related duties as required, contributing to the overall success of the migration project.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall migration assistance for Oracle Database to Azure.
• Develop a strategic plan to migrate current Oracle and SQL-backed applications to public cloud.
• Advise the Department on a pathway of governance for achieving program objectives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation of the future system architecture.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Two-plus years of progressive cloud database experience.
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases.
• Experience with integration and deployment of SQL with outside sources and applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent team-collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Azure SQL Databases (i.e. single, elastic, Managed Instance, IaaS).
• Azure Data certification.
• Working knowledge of ETL tools (i.e. SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
• Data Warehousing experience, specifically with Azure Data Lake, Snowflake or equivalent.
• Experience defining database systems strategy, developing systems requirements, designing, prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures, and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
