About the position

The Oracle Database Application Analyst position within Corporate Finance is responsible for maintaining and enhancing internal financial reporting database applications specifically for life insurance. This role involves implementing and enhancing database applications, automating reporting requirements, ensuring successful data warehouse loads, and producing various reports. The analyst will translate complex business and actuarial requirements into technology solutions while collaborating with business, finance, and technology teams. The position includes both application development and production support, specifically providing L2 and L3 support for FMD Oracle database applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance internal financial reporting database applications for life insurance.
  • Implement and enhance database applications for new and existing products.
  • Automate reporting requirements and ensure successful monthly data warehouse loads.
  • Create control processes and produce reports, including automated reports and ad hoc analyses.
  • Translate complex business and actuarial requirements into programming specifications and technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with business, finance, and technology teams.
  • Provide L2 and L3 support for FMD Oracle database applications.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree with a minimum of 2 years in database application development.
  • Proficiency in Oracle (11g/19c) including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader.
  • Experience with LINUX OS including shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with TOAD and advanced Excel (e.g., VLookup/macros).
  • Knowledge of scheduling tools (ESP/Stonebranch UAC) preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS-Access and Python preferred.
  • Business knowledge of Life Products.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with a sense of urgency and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with a problem-solution attitude.
  • Detail-oriented with a comprehensive approach to validating and proofing deliverables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of scheduling tools (ESP/Stonebranch UAC) preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS-Access and Python preferred.
