About the position

The Database Systems Architect position at Goodyear focuses on Oracle DBA tasks and the administration of computerized database management systems. The role involves ensuring data integrity, consistency, security, and recovery, while also facilitating data sharing among users. The individual will develop procedures and standards for continuous database availability and improvement, and will mentor junior team members while handling complex problems independently.

Responsibilities

• Support enterprise-wide, mission-critical databases with minimal assistance.
• Plan, install, implement, and configure company databases.
• Write necessary procedures and develop standards for 24/7 system availability.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support for company databases.
• Analyze and participate in security and data integrity controls for computerized database resources.
• Participate in the analysis and design of new and existing systems to ensure adherence to technical standards.
• Plan and implement database backup and recovery procedures.
• Tune databases for optimal performance across functional support areas.
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements and assist team members in implementation.
• Evaluate enterprise-wide database infrastructure and develop detailed analysis reports and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or Technology.
• 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, with 2+ years in database systems, preferably Oracle.
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, client/server architectures, and standards.
• Advanced knowledge of currently used database applications.
• Advanced knowledge of data modeling, logical and physical database design and implementation.
• Good understanding of middleware standards, networking technology, and protocols.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.
