About the position

The Oracle Database Developer/Administrator will work as part of a Scrum Team at the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT). This role involves completing user stories, addressing bugs, and managing technical debt while ensuring the efficient operation of Oracle databases. The developer will be responsible for reviewing and developing PL/SQL code, integrating it into Azure DevOps, and providing technical assistance for new data requests and features. Additionally, the position requires monitoring database performance and addressing security vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a Scrum Team
  • Complete user stories, bugs, and technical debt
  • Review, update, and develop PL/SQL including LRS and other Oracle Spatial operations
  • Integrate PL/SQL code into Azure DevOps code repository
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements and features, providing necessary technical assistance
  • Perform data modeling, prototyping, and maintain data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and standards
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Help resolve database-related security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Assist with required reporting as established by the client

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with Oracle Spatial (dynamic segmentation, LRS, SDO)
  • 8+ years of experience with Oracle PL/SQL
  • Experience with version control systems (Azure DevOps, GIT)
  • Proficiency in SQL Developer (or other similar IDEs)
  • Experience with Esri ArcSDE (integration with Oracle Spatial)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (project management, user stories/bugs/test cases, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Eclipse
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology
