About the position

The Oracle Database Developer position is a contract role focused on engineering and operationalizing advanced analytics solutions using Oracle PL/SQL, AWS, and Big Data technologies. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong communication skills to manage both investment and maintenance projects within the Enterprise portfolio, ensuring efficient data integration and system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Create, troubleshoot, and enhance complex ETL processes using Oracle PL/SQL code packages.
  • Lead operations in a cloud environment involving AWS and Snowflake, migrating data assets to the cloud.
  • Integrate and transform data between multiple applications, both on-premises and cloud-based.
  • Formulate logical statements of business problems and implement efficient application program solutions.
  • Analyze existing systems and programming logic to improve machine operations and resolve issues.
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions for system design, recommending cost-effective options.
  • Support and respond to production issues and requirements clarifications promptly.
  • Coordinate with Architects, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, and Developers for technical clarity in design and implementation.
  • Oversee quality and completeness of technical specifications, solution designs, and code reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT systems analysis and application program development.
  • 6+ years of strong experience as a Database Developer using Oracle PL/SQL.
  • 1-3 years of experience migrating assets to cloud environments (AWS and Snowflake).
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, manipulation, and development.
  • 1+ years of experience in the insurance or investment industry.
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of Oracle, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, Autosys, Sub-Version, and Github/Jenkins.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse applications in the financial/insurance domain.
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling and Database design.
  • Ability to design, implement, and oversee ETL processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with emerging data-centric technologies such as data virtualization.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, Python/Pyspark, and Shell Scripting.
