About the position

The Oracle Database Developer position is a remote role based in the United States, specifically for the Commissions team at Insight Global. This team is responsible for the Sales Compensation Management System, which determines commission payouts for various sales channels, including retail/care, business, and third-party sellers. As the company transitions towards self-service channels for customers, the need arises to compensate sales teams based on prior engagements or referrals to these self-service flows. To facilitate this, the team is tasked with building a comprehensive framework that integrates data and associates all relevant data points, both historical and new, to support the new compensation model. The application in focus is an AWS Oracle RDS application utilizing Oracle 19c. The team is seeking skilled Database Developers, Data Engineers, and Data Analysts to support this initiative. The role will involve collaborating with functional analysts for design and testing, while database developers will implement the new systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong database design and development experience, particularly within the Oracle ecosystem, and will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Oracle database objects including queries, views, materialized views, functions, and stored procedures to meet business functionality requirements.
  • Create and manage tables, schemas, and other database objects such as constraints, primary and foreign keys to align with business expectations.
  • Automate SQL-based queries to load, transform, and move data between database schemas and tables efficiently.
  • Establish alarms, thresholds, and budget values for effective monitoring of database performance.
  • Quickly learn the commissioning system from a business perspective to effectively contribute to the team.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and data architects to enhance productivity and ensure high-quality work output.
  • Write and optimize PL/SQL code from scratch to support various database operations.
  • Utilize AWS services such as S3, RDS, and Lambda to enhance database functionality.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the Oracle ecosystem and its components.
  • Proficiency in creating complex SQL queries, views, materialized views, functions, and stored procedures.
  • Experience in designing and implementing database structures including tables, schemas, and constraints.
  • Ability to automate SQL queries for data loading and transformation tasks.
  • Familiarity with setting up monitoring tools such as alarms and thresholds for database performance.
  • Quick learning ability regarding business processes related to the commissioning system.
  • Experience working collaboratively with data engineers and architects to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Proficient in coding PL/SQL from scratch and optimizing existing code.
  • Experience with AWS services, particularly S3, RDS, and Lambda.
