About the position

The Oracle Database Engineer and Developer role at Deutsche Bank is a hands-on position responsible for co-managing, maintaining, and supporting the Oracle database estate within the Treasury Modelling Analytics (TMA) function. This role encompasses database design, implementation, and programming activities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The TMA function is critical for strategic analytics model development and execution, involving complex Oracle databases and programming in Python and R.

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage, maintain, and evolve the entire DEV / UAT / PRODUCTION Oracle estate as per business and IT requirements.
  • Program, deploy, and maintain all types of Oracle programming artifacts, including SQL scripts and PL/SQL stored procedures.
  • Design and program Oracle database components such as schemas, tables, indexes, and queries in a complex software-based modeling execution platform.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management, monitoring, and support of Oracle platforms, including change management activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Oracle programming for optimal database design and implementation.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience in programming Oracle database artifacts using PL/SQL and SQL.
  • Good programming experience in Python, particularly with cx_Oracle or similar libraries.
  • Experience in optimizing existing Oracle artifacts, including schemas and SQL statements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge or strong programming experience in the R programming language.
  • Experience with behavioral modeling analytics and CCAR stress testing.
  • Familiarity with other open-source databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB.
