About the position

Professional Solutions Delivered, LLC (ProSoDel) is seeking an Oracle Database Specialist to join our team in Jacksonville, NC. This role is crucial for supporting our Oracle/Linux Opportunity, where you will be responsible for a variety of essential duties related to database management and application support. You will perform database and application regression testing on approximately 75 databases and 25-30 applications, ensuring that all systems function optimally and meet the required standards. Your expertise will be vital in implementing DISA STIGs for around 100 Oracle Enterprise 8 instances, which is essential for maintaining security and compliance in our operations. In this position, you will design and implement complex database architectures that prioritize high availability and performance. You will assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in collaboration with data owners and department managers. Your responsibilities will also include installing and configuring new Oracle Database instances, planning and executing upgrades and migrations, and monitoring database performance to identify bottlenecks and implement necessary improvements. Tuning SQL queries and database parameters will be part of your daily tasks to optimize performance effectively. You will define and implement robust backup and recovery procedures, ensuring that regular backups, recoveries, and data refreshes are performed and automated as required. Security is a top priority, and you will implement and maintain database security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data safety and privacy. Managing schema changes, data migration, and transformation scripts will also fall under your purview, as will ensuring data integrity and quality across the database systems. As an Oracle Database Specialist, you will provide expert troubleshooting for complex database issues and offer technical support and guidance to development teams. You will analyze and predict future database resource requirements and scale database operations to meet the growing business needs. Additionally, you will develop and maintain scripts to automate common database administration tasks and document the database setup, architecture, and any changes applied. Maintaining updated documentation for data models and dictionaries is essential, as is providing expertise and training to junior database administrators and other technical staff. You will conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops to foster a collaborative environment. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with IT project managers and business analysts on project planning, delivery, and execution. Effective communication with the Program Manager is necessary to ensure that database capabilities and potential issues are clearly communicated. Staying up-to-date with the latest Oracle technologies and best practices is crucial, as is evaluating and recommending new database technologies, tools, and features. This position may also involve performing related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Must have LINUX+ from CompTIA.
  • Possess an active DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II or above Certification.
  • 5-8 years of experience in database administration.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years LINUX and/or Oracle Database Administration Experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a customer-facing environment.
  • Ability to monitor and optimize database and server performance, including troubleshooting and resolving performance issues.
  • Ability to implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, NIST SP800-53.x requirements, and experience in conducting DoD vulnerability/compliance assessments.
  • US citizen with active DoD Secret (T3) clearance.
