About the position

Professional Solutions Delivered, LLC (ProSoDel) is a total solutions provider for government and commercial customers in the areas of Program Management, Logistics, Organizational Change Management, Communications, Training, and Information Technology (IT) Support Services. We are currently seeking an Oracle Database Specialist to join our team of professionals in support of the Oracle/Linux Opportunity. The Oracle Database Specialist will be responsible for performing database and application regression testing on approximately 75 databases and 25-30 applications. This role involves implementing DISA STIGs for around 100 Oracle Enterprise 8 instances and designing complex database architectures that ensure high availability and performance. The specialist will assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in collaboration with data owners and department managers. In addition to installation and configuration of new Oracle Database instances, the specialist will plan and execute upgrades and migrations. Monitoring database performance is crucial, as is identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements. The role requires tuning SQL queries and database parameters to optimize performance, defining and implementing robust backup and recovery procedures, and automating regular backups, recoveries, and data refreshes as required. The specialist will also implement and maintain database security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data safety and privacy. Managing schema changes, data migration, and transformation scripts is part of the job, as is ensuring data integrity and quality across the database systems. The specialist will provide expert troubleshooting for complex database issues and offer technical support and guidance to development teams. Analyzing and predicting future database resource requirements, scaling database operations to meet growing business needs, and developing scripts to automate common database administration tasks are also key responsibilities. Documentation of the database setup, architecture, and any changes applied is essential, as is maintaining updated documentation for the data models and dictionary. The specialist will provide expertise and training to junior database administrators and other technical staff, conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops, and collaborate with IT project managers and business analysts on project planning, delivery, and execution. Effective communication with the Program Manager to ensure database capabilities and potential issues are made known is critical. Staying up-to-date with the latest Oracle technologies and best practices, as well as evaluating and recommending new database technologies, tools, and features, are also part of the role.
