About the position

The Oracle Database Specialist position at Professional Solutions Delivered, LLC (ProSoDel) is a critical role focused on supporting government and commercial customers through comprehensive database management and application support. The specialist will be responsible for performing extensive database and application regression testing across approximately 75 databases and 25-30 applications, ensuring that all systems function optimally and meet the required standards. This role involves implementing Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for around 100 Oracle Enterprise 8 instances, which is essential for maintaining compliance and security in database operations. In addition to testing and compliance, the Oracle Database Specialist will design and implement complex database architectures aimed at achieving high availability and performance. This includes assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for production databases in collaboration with data owners and department managers. The specialist will also be tasked with installing and configuring new Oracle Database instances, planning and executing upgrades and migrations, and monitoring database performance to identify bottlenecks and implement necessary improvements. The role requires tuning SQL queries and database parameters to optimize performance, defining and implementing robust backup and recovery procedures, and automating regular backups, recoveries, and data refreshes as needed. Security is a significant aspect of this position, as the specialist will implement and maintain database security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data safety and privacy. Furthermore, the specialist will manage schema changes, data migration, and transformation scripts, ensuring data integrity and quality across the database systems. Expert troubleshooting for complex database issues is a key responsibility, along with providing technical support and guidance to development teams. The specialist will analyze and predict future database resource requirements and scale database operations to meet the growing business needs. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining scripts to automate common database administration tasks, documenting the database setup and architecture, and maintaining updated documentation for data models and dictionaries. The Oracle Database Specialist will also provide expertise and training to junior database administrators and other technical staff, conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops, and collaborate with IT project managers and business analysts on project planning, delivery, and execution. Effective communication with the Program Manager is essential to ensure that database capabilities and potential issues are clearly conveyed. Staying current with the latest Oracle technologies and best practices, as well as evaluating and recommending new database technologies, tools, and features, are also integral to this role.
