About the position

The Oracle DBA position requires a highly skilled individual with over 7 years of extensive experience in Oracle database design and administration across multi-platform environments, including UNIX and NT. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and installation of applications in an online environment, specifically Oracle R12 and 11i, demonstrating a proven track record of executing multiple projects to meet organizational goals. A strong emphasis is placed on supporting Oracle VCP Modules, particularly Demantra and ASCP, which is highly desired for this role. In this position, the Oracle DBA will plan and manage all technical and functional tasks associated with database administration. This includes creating, maintaining, and monitoring databases, conducting performance tuning analysis, capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction. The role also involves systems support, long-term strategic planning, application support and optimization, problem resolution tracking, and software upgrades. The DBA will assess customer requirements, analyze the architecture of business events and databases, evaluate possible solutions, and present recommendations to IT management. The candidate will perform software installation and configuration, including upgrades and applying patches, while working closely with Business Solutions teams, developers, Systems Administrators, and peers in other IT areas. Ensuring successful backups and known restore processes is critical, as is compliance with architectural standards and established methodologies in database development. The DBA will monitor and report the status of multiple concurrent project efforts to IT management and users, anticipate and identify issues that may inhibit project goals, and develop corrective actions as necessary. Additionally, the role requires providing 24/7 on-call support as needed, developing project resource strategies, and allocating budget, staff, tools, and specialized support for cost-effective implementation and support of project efforts. The DBA must possess the experience and expertise to handle multiple tasks of medium to complex levels with general supervision and minimal guidance. The position also involves working on complex issues where in-depth evaluation of variable factors is required, exercising judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results. Excellent research and troubleshooting skills, particularly in Oracle Applications R12 and 11i for EBS and VCP, are essential.
