About the position

The Oracle DBA (Database Administrator) position is a critical role responsible for managing and maintaining Oracle databases, specifically focusing on the latest versions such as 12c and 19c. This role requires a strong background in PL/SQL development, as the DBA will be tasked with writing and optimizing PL/SQL code to ensure efficient database operations. The DBA will also be responsible for the performance, security, and availability of the databases, which includes troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise during database operations. The position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office and two days of work from home each week, and is located in either Plano, TX or Jacksonville, FL. In addition to technical skills, the role emphasizes the importance of soft skills, particularly communication abilities. The DBA will need to interact effectively with customers and articulate technical concepts clearly. Coordination between onshore and offshore teams is also a key aspect of this position, making interpersonal skills essential. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration, with a preference for candidates who have previously worked at Bank of America (BofA). The job duration is expected to be 12 months with the possibility of extension, and candidates must be prepared for in-person interviews as part of the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software.
  • Design and implement database structures and objects.
  • Develop and optimize PL/SQL code for database applications.
  • Monitor database performance and tune for optimization.
  • Backup and restore databases as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in Oracle database administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Oracle DBA with expertise in PL/SQL development.
  • Strong understanding of database management and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata is a plus.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Oracle certification is preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MySQL (1 year preferred).
  • Experience in database administration (1 year preferred).
  • Experience with Oracle (1 year preferred).
