About the position

As an Oracle DBA at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will play a crucial role in administering, testing, and implementing computer databases, leveraging your expertise in database management systems. Your responsibilities will include coordinating changes to computer databases, planning and implementing security measures to safeguard these databases, and ensuring their optimal performance. In a typical week, you will be involved in installing various versions of Oracle binaries, including 7, 8, 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g, and 11i. Your tasks will encompass upgrading and patching databases, re-linking executables, migrating and upgrading databases and applications, and performing both physical and logical backups. You will also be responsible for installing, configuring, backing up, recovering, upgrading, patching, and tuning SQL and databases. Daily monitoring of the database environment will be essential, and you will need to take corrective actions as necessary. Additionally, you will develop backup and recovery policies and procedures for Oracle databases to address both physical and logical failures. Your role will also involve supporting various hardware and software configurations, including X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7, as well as creating a two-node Hadoop cluster on Ubuntu. You will design and implement a complete RMAN solution for backup and recovery and support Oracle Exadata and Exalogic deployments. Responsibilities

  • Administer, test, and implement computer databases.
  • Coordinate changes to computer databases and plan security measures.
  • Install various versions of Oracle binaries and perform upgrades and patches.
  • Migrate and upgrade databases and applications, and perform backups.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Oracle databases, including security patching and capacity planning.
  • Develop backup and recovery policies and procedures for Oracle databases.
  • Support hardware and software configurations for X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7.
  • Create a two-node Hadoop cluster on Ubuntu.
  • Design and implement RMAN solutions for backup and recovery.
  • Support Oracle Exadata and Exalogic deployments.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Required certification: Oracle Database 12c Administration Certified Professional.
  • Oracle RAC & Grid Certified Expert certification is required.
  • Preferred education: Bachelor's degree in information technology management or a related field.
  • Domain expertise in Database, OS, Languages, Virtualization, DevSecOps, Big Data.
  • Technical skills in Oracle Exadata, Linux X4, X5, X6, X7, and scripting languages such as Bash/Korn shell, Perl, and Python.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, Hypervisor Type1 (ESXi), and installed Red Hat Linux 7.3.
  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies: Waterfall, Agile, DevOps.
  • Knowledge of Oracle ConfigMgr, AD, Windows OS, IBM Hadoop, WebSphere, GitHub, and Eclipse.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oracle 11g: RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administration Accelerated certification.
  • Oracle Cloud Infra Found Associate certification.
  • AWS Oracle Cloud Infra Found Associate certification.
  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with TSA's mission priorities, systems, and applications is preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
