About the position

The Database Administrator 3 position at ASSYST involves supporting client projects by designing, developing, maintaining, and improving database solutions for the TIERS applications portfolio. The role requires collaboration with application development teams and business stakeholders to enhance existing applications and implement new solutions, utilizing various web platform technologies and database management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve database solutions for the TIERS applications portfolio.
  • Collaborate with application development teams and business stakeholders to enhance the TIERS applications portfolio and implement new solutions.
  • Build databases and applications using web platform technologies including Java/J2EE, SOAP/REST web services, Spring, JPA, jQuery, AngularJS, IBM WebSphere, Oracle, and PostGreSQL.
  • Perform advanced logical database administration, database development, performance monitoring, and tuning.
  • Provide database-related support to application development teams, testing, and defect repair.
  • Utilize Agile development practices for backlog grooming and user story development.
  • Design, develop, build, and test databases to support new program and business requests.
  • Provide application and database operations triage support to troubleshoot and resolve issues in production, development, and test environments.
  • Develop and modify existing Linux shell scripts for LDBA tasks and provide process documentation.
  • Design and develop Enterprise CI/CD workflow for database automation using tools like Jenkins.
  • Develop and manage SQL and PL/SQL code, and implement Oracle APEX tool set.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in implementing, administering, managing, and monitoring application databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in developing and optimizing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code.
  • Experience in database automation to align Enterprise CI/CD workflows, and working with automation orchestrators such as Jenkins.
  • Hands-on experience with APEX development is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading or working on large, complex initiatives for performance tuning improvements.
  • Ability to advise developers on tuning options and experience using Explain Plan for performance improvement.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional development teams to identify data relationships and constraints.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle internal views, built-in functions, and architecture for data analysis and query optimization.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues in development and production databases using Oracle 11/19c databases.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning SQL and PL/SQL on Oracle databases.
  • Experience using Oracle native tools such as Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Hands-on experience using Erwin Modeling tool for data modeling techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large development projects using Agile methodology.
