About the position

Radiant Digital is seeking a skilled Database Administrator with a strong background in developing, administering, and maintaining various databases and information repositories. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in this field, with hands-on expertise in MySQL, Oracle, and PLSQL. The role requires proficiency in database installation, administration, patching, upgrades, and migration, particularly in Unix/Linux environments. The candidate will be responsible for managing Oracle RAC installations and configurations, as well as implementing effective database backup and recovery strategies. In addition to technical skills, the position demands strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills, with the flexibility to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Communication skills are essential, as the role involves interaction with various stakeholders at different levels within the organization. The Database Administrator will also be expected to enhance existing databases and develop new applications that leverage emerging technologies and standards. This position is critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of database systems in a 24x7 production environment, making it essential for the candidate to have a proactive approach to database management and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, administer, and maintain various databases and information repositories.
  • Enhance existing public databases and internal databases.
  • Develop new applications that utilize emerging standards and technologies.
  • Implement database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Manage Oracle RAC installations and configurations.
  • Apply critical patch updates (CPU) from Oracle.
  • Collaborate with diverse groups to address database application issues.
  • Write and maintain shell scripts for database management.
  • Utilize Unix/Linux command line utilities for operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in database development and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with 10g/11g database installation and administration on Unix/Linux.
  • Proficient in MySQL, Oracle, and PLSQL.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC installation and administration.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing shell scripts.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in a 24x7 production environment.
