About the position

Grey Matters Defense Solutions is seeking a talented and dedicated Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a major, multi-year project with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Centennial, CO. The role involves managing large-scale Oracle databases, optimizing performance, ensuring data availability, and collaborating within an agile team environment. The DBA will be responsible for database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and automation scripting, contributing to the success of innovative software solutions and data analytics projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and configure large-scale Oracle databases, ensuring optimal performance and storage.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and manage PL/SQL programming for database functions.
  • Utilize Oracle RMAN for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Diagnose and optimize database performance, including tuning queries and managing resources.
  • Upgrade databases and apply patches to maintain security and stability.
  • Create and maintain data replication for availability and reliability.
  • Manage Oracle RDS in an AWS Cloud environment.
  • Automate routine database tasks using Shell, Python, or Perl scripting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues effectively.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate in an agile team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
  • Expertise in Oracle RMAN for backup and recovery.
  • Strong performance tuning skills and experience with resource management.
  • Experience with database upgrades and patching.
  • Knowledge of data replication techniques.
  • Experience managing Oracle RDS in AWS Cloud.
  • Proficiency in automation scripting using Shell, Python, or Perl.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced certifications in database management.
  • Experience with Qlik Replicate/Compose.
  • Familiarity with ETL and Data Modeling.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of APIs and Qlik QDI.
