The Oracle DBA position at Tanisha Systems involves managing and administering large database estates, specifically handling databases that are several terabytes in size. The role requires expertise in the installation and administration of various database versions across multiple Unix platforms and Windows servers. A significant part of the job includes designing and implementing high availability solutions such as Real Application Clusters (RAC), Golden Gate, and Data Guard. The DBA will also be responsible for installing, configuring, and managing Automatic Storage Management (ASM) instances in Oracle, as well as planning and executing major migrations and upgrades of databases. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Oracle DBA will define and configure disk and disk groups in ASM, troubleshoot issues, and manage databases on Exadata machines. The role requires planning for database upgrades, migrations, and patching, as well as implementing backup and recovery solutions as needed. The DBA will also be involved in hardware tech refreshes, coordinating with database vendors to resolve major incidents, and performing database refreshes, reorganizations, and backups using RMAN and third-party tools. The position also entails installing and configuring grid control database monitoring tools, administering and troubleshooting Oracle grid control, and defining performance benchmarks and metrics. The DBA will conduct periodic performance reviews of database instances and provide tuning recommendations. Proactive database analysis and suggestions to the application team and business are also key components of the role. The DBA will be responsible for writing and troubleshooting shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL scripts, primarily supporting production and non-production database environments. The role emphasizes the importance of reducing repeated errors through the implementation of necessary checkpoints and contributing to the evaluation of tools, products, and software selection. The DBA will track and report Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to higher management and prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all activities. Proactive identification of risks and their mitigation is crucial, along with providing technical presentations on emerging technologies and suggesting training based on customer needs to the Project Manager. The DBA will also implement and periodically check on automation and database security, document and track technology-related risks, and provide technical and process guidance to L2 and L1 DBAs. Additionally, the DBA will provide 24x7 on-call support for critical application databases.
