About the position

The Oracle DBA position involves managing and supporting Oracle databases in both Non-RAC and RAC environments. The role requires extensive experience in database engineering, particularly in implementing and managing Oracle databases, and involves tasks such as performance tuning, backup management, and ensuring high availability of production databases. The position is hybrid, requiring local candidates to work in Brooklyn, NY, and is offered as a full-time contract role.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, customize, create, implement, and support Oracle databases in Non-RAC and RAC environments.
  • Implement Grid Infrastructure release 19c on a Unix/Linux platform to support databases.
  • Implement Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) cluster Filesystem and maintain it.
  • Add new disks to an ASM disk group and patch grid infrastructure and Oracle RDBMS.
  • Setup Oracle database security environment and carry out DB Performance Tuning and RMAN backups.
  • Utilize Linux Administration skills and develop UNIX shell scripts; automate using Ansible.
  • Work with the Database team and Unix engineers to design, build, upgrade, and support Oracle infrastructure.
  • Configure Golden Gate replication and Oracle RAC and ASM technologies on Redhat Linux.
  • Assist developers and end users in implementing best practices and addressing performance issues.
  • Ensure all databases are backed up and meet the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Lead team efforts in adopting modernized architecture such as hybrid cloud and database ready for hybrid cloud.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and manage different database encryption technologies.
  • Implement disaster recovery (DR) by design and validate.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in database engineering.
  • Experience in implementing/managing Oracle Databases in a RAC environment with at least 2 years of production support.
  • Experience implementing Grid Infrastructure release 19 or higher on a Redhat Linux environment.
  • Experience implementing ASM cluster Filesystem and knowledge of maintaining it for operational delivery.
  • Knowledge of best practices for adding a new disk to an ASM disk group.
  • Experience patching grid infrastructure software.
  • Familiarity with Oracle database resource manager and Ansible/automation/scripting.
  • Experience supporting a high-availability production database.
  • Experience in configuring/supporting Oracle Active Data Guard.
  • Experience in database architecture and design; Oracle Advanced Security Option; and Golden Gate for Oracle Replication.
  • Knowledge of working on cloud environments, preferably AWS & AZURE.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle Advanced Security Option is highly desirable.
