About the position

At NTT DATA, we are seeking an exceptional Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This role is crucial for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Oracle RDBMS systems, ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our client applications. As a hands-on position, the Oracle DBA will require solid technical skills along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. The successful candidate will manage Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. The Oracle DBA will be responsible for configuring and maintaining database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. This includes database performance tuning, planning, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-availability database environments such as RAC and Data Guard. The role also involves independently analyzing, solving, and correcting issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution. Additionally, the DBA will refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes for efficiency and cost optimization. Providing 24x7 support for critical production systems is a key aspect of this role, which may require performing scheduled maintenance and supporting release deployment activities after hours. The Oracle DBA will also share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members, while working directly with end customers, business stakeholders, and technical resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance.
  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Plan, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot high-availability database environments (RAC, Data Guard, etc.).
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes for efficiency and cost optimization.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members.
  • Work directly with end customers, business stakeholders, and technical resources.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience on Oracle 11.x/Above versions in database administration in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Experience with database administration and managing databases on Exadata.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle.
  • Experience working with Linux, Windows, and Unix servers.
  • Experience with scripting and SQL, PL/SQL.
  • Experience supporting Logical DBA activities and complex query tuning.

  • OCA, OCP, and/or OCM certifications are a plus.
