About the position

The Oracle DBA position involves the administration and management of Oracle databases, including upgrades, performance tuning, and ensuring operational integrity. The role requires 24/7 coverage to address any database issues and involves collaboration with systems engineering for database upgrades and maintenance. The DBA will also be responsible for implementing security measures and enhancing database performance.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle server databases on ship and shore, including installation, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Automate data conversion scripts and assist with server patching and data center relocation.
• Review and QA database programs and maintain documentation for database systems.
• Provide general support for Fidelio and day-to-day operational tasks.
• Identify and resolve hardware, software, or database problems/outages in services.
• Monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
• Proactively research and locate necessary tools and processes to avert performance issues.
• Work closely with Systems Engineering to test planned database upgrades and provide input into long-range database requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
• 5+ years of experience in a 24/7/365 environment.
• Experience with Oracle RAC and Standby Databases.
• Experience in database design and performance tuning (AWR, ADDM).
• Familiarity with AIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with RMAN and Oracle tools (Exp/Imp, dpexp/dpimp).
• Extensive knowledge of ASM and disaster recovery processes.
• Strong SQL programming skills, preferably in Oracle, with the ability to write complex SQL queries.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle database upgrades from 11g to 12c/18g/19g.
• Competency in writing/analyzing PL/SQL and Korn shell scripts.
• Experience with data conversion and transfer of data from on-premises to cloud.
