About the position

The Oracle DBA position at Interactive Brokers involves supporting database operations across Production, Development, and QA environments. The role requires hands-on experience with Oracle databases, particularly version 19c or higher, and emphasizes collaboration with various teams to solve business problems effectively. The position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work, and includes responsibilities for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and maintaining database availability.

Responsibilities

  • Support database operations in Production, Development, and QA environments.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance or availability issues.
  • Offer tuning suggestions based on Oracle query tuning methodologies.
  • Work with Oracle RMAN, Flashback, DataGuard, Oracle RAC, and ASM.
  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager to identify performance issues.
  • Drive assigned projects to completion according to group standards and procedures.
  • Document steps taken and methods utilized in projects.
  • Maintain availability after hours and occasionally work nights/weekends for database operations and maintenance.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle, preferably 19c or higher on Redhat Linux.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance or availability issues.
  • Experience with Oracle query tuning methodologies.
  • Experience with Oracle RMAN, Flashback, DataGuard, Oracle RAC, and ASM.
  • Exposure to working with large databases and large datasets.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Confluence, Jira, and ServiceNow.
