About the position

As a Database Analyst Advisor at GDIT, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into actionable insights that support our clients' missions. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing complex data challenges and ensuring the security and efficiency of our nation's data infrastructure. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of a sophisticated data infrastructure tailored to meet customer needs. This role requires collaboration with network, systems, and application engineers to manage the database engineering and administration of systems that handle high-volume data processing. You will utilize various data management techniques and ingest methods, ensuring compliance with standards and availability requirements. Your work will not only impact the immediate project but also contribute to the broader mission of national safety and security. In this position, you will be tasked with designing, planning, implementing, and administering databases, focusing on security, access, and comprehensive documentation. Your responsibilities will include performing all lifecycle aspects of database engineering and administration, from design to deployment, maintenance, and recovery. You will also conduct database security analysis and vulnerability remediation, ensuring that our systems are robust and secure. Your role will involve managing Oracle engineered systems and collaborating with a cross-functional team to support complex data systems. You will provide recommendations for continuous improvement and assist in the design of network architectures based on customer requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement, and administer databases, ensuring security and access controls are in place.
  • Perform all aspects of the database lifecycle, including design, installation, deployment, maintenance, backup/recovery, patching, and upgrading.
  • Conduct database security analysis and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Manage Oracle engineered systems such as Exadata, Big Data, MiniCluster, or SuperCluster.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support high-volume and complex data systems.
  • Assist in designing network architectures based on customer data requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance and enhancements of data systems and platforms.
  • Develop unique solutions to meet customer requirements and industry best practices.
  • Write and update technical documentation related to data systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • At least eight (8) years of related experience in database engineering and administration for complex and high-volume data processing.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in designing, installing, administrating, upgrading, patching, and performance tuning Oracle databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in the lifecycle of database engineering and administration, including design, installation, deployment, maintenance, and recovery.
  • Current and practical expertise using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQL*Plus, and SQL Developer.
  • Extensive experience in database architecture, design, and processing models.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with administration and configuration of database solutions for document and geospatial data/capabilities.
  • Prior experience supporting database systems for the Sponsor or the IC for CT mission.
  • Experience delivering or integrating solutions using RDBMS technologies and NoSQL technologies.
  • Competence in writing, changing, and understanding scripting in various languages such as Windows, Korn/Bash, Perl, Python.
  • Experience transitioning into a Cloud environment.
