About the position

As a Database Analyst Advisor at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights for our clients. This position involves leading the design, implementation, and testing of complex data infrastructures to support high-volume data processing needs. You will collaborate with various engineering teams to manage database engineering and administration, ensuring compliance with security and availability standards while facilitating effective communication among stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement, and administer databases, including security, access, and documentation.
  • Lead the database engineering lifecycle from design to deployment, including data migration, maintenance, backup/recovery, patching, and upgrades.
  • Conduct database security analysis and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Manage Oracle engineered systems such as Exadata and Big Data in high availability environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support complex data systems and provide recommendations for enhancements.
  • Write and update technical documentation related to data systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of related experience in database engineering and administration for complex data processing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Oracle database design, installation, administration, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated experience in database lifecycle management, including design, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Current expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQL*Plus, and SQL Developer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with administration and configuration of database solutions for document and geospatial data.
  • Prior experience supporting database systems for the Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies, including transitioning solutions between them.
  • Competence in scripting languages such as Windows, Korn/Bash, Perl, and Python.
  • Experience transitioning into a Cloud environment.
