About the position

The Oracle ETL Backend Developer position is primarily focused on developing, maintaining, testing, and debugging software to meet generally defined requirements within a Windows client/server environment. The role requires proficiency in various software development languages and environments, including PL/SQL, Oracle, Progress 4 GL Application Development Environment (ADE), .Net, and Microsoft SQL. The developer will be responsible for formulating and defining system scope and objectives through thorough research and fact-finding, which is essential for developing or modifying moderately complex information systems. In this role, the developer will prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written, and will engage in the design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance of programs. Familiarity with various aspects of the application is crucial, including reports, parameters, claims management, intake services, and interfaces with carriers, clients, and vendors. The developer will analyze user needs and assist in designing specifications to meet those needs, ensuring that the software developed aligns with the requirements of insurance carriers and regulatory groups. The position also involves testing and debugging assigned projects, assisting in testing projects for other programming staff, and preparing documentation on new or existing software. The developer will investigate escalated calls from support staff, making necessary corrections to data and/or software. Additionally, the role includes supporting the professional growth of fellow programmers and adhering to departmental standards and guidelines to maintain high-quality customer service. Keeping abreast of revisions in software development languages and technological advances is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, test, and debug software in a Windows client/server environment.
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding.
  • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
  • Design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain programs.
  • Become familiar with application aspects including reports, claims management, and vendor interfaces.
  • Analyze user needs and assist in designing specifications to meet those needs.
  • Develop and modify software to meet specifications outlined in data processing requests.
  • Test and debug assigned projects and assist in testing projects for other programming staff.
  • Prepare documentation on new or existing software.
  • Investigate call escalations from support staff and make necessary corrections to data/software.
  • Assist in the professional growth of programmers.
  • Follow departmental standards and guidelines for design and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in Information Systems or Computer Science.
  • Six years of language development experience in relevant languages or business analytical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Proven experience in interpreting user requirements and developing business applications.
