About the position

Arconic is currently seeking an Oracle Linux Database Administrator to join our Global Rolled Products Team in Bettendorf, IA. This role is crucial for managing Oracle databases (11g, 19c, 23ai) and Unix/Linux operating systems (OL5, OL9) at the Davenport Works location. The successful candidate will oversee multiple product lifecycle environments, ranging from development to mission-critical production systems. The position requires configuring and maintaining database processes, monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. The Oracle Linux Database Administrator will independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution. This includes refining and automating regular processes, tracking issues, and documenting changes. The role also involves implementing and maintaining robust backup and disaster recovery practices, providing 24x7 support for critical production systems, and supporting Arconic's compliance activities by performing annual system testing for adherence to IT system and audit requirements. Additionally, the administrator will assist audit teams and perform disaster recovery testing as required. Key objectives for this position include demonstrating knowledge of the practical application of systems and technology, including systems architecture, hardware, operations, and lifecycle management. The candidate will develop an understanding of business processes and demonstrate critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Operating within Arconic's IT standards and conventions is essential, ensuring that appropriate methodologies, support processes, and procedures are followed. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are necessary to think through complex technical problems and identify and resolve gaps or risks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Oracle databases (11g, 19c, 23ai) and Unix/Linux OS (OL5, OL9) located at the Davenport Works location through multiple product lifecycle environments.
  • Configure and maintain database processes, including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup & disaster recovery practices.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
  • Support Arconic Compliance activities by performing annual system testing for adherence to IT System and Audit requirements.
  • Assist audit teams and internal audit teams as required, and perform Disaster Recovery testing as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, math, or related subject.
  • 5 years' minimum experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR).
  • Experience working with Windows servers, including Active Directory.

  • Knowledge of API or rest services integrations.
