About the position

Kforce has a client in downtown Houston, TX looking for an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer. This position is on-site 3 days a week with the ability to work remotely for the other 2 days. This is a contract-to-hire role with the potential to convert to a full-time employee after 6 months. As the Senior Developer, Applications, you will be primarily responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of IT applications in the middleware platform. You will interface with clients at all organizational levels, taking business requirements and delivering technical work to yield productive products for end-users. Your role will involve planning, development, coding, testing, migration to production, and the maintenance of applications across multiple technical landscapes. You will design user flows, platform architecture, software patterns, and data models to support both current and long-term business needs. Adhering to application standards and best practices is crucial, as is coordinating with upstream and downstream application teams and infrastructure teams to ensure the overall success of the application. Troubleshooting production issues and remedying these in a timely manner with minimal disruptions will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will participate in disaster recovery efforts in case of a disaster situation and support scheduled annual disaster recovery tests, including the maintenance of required documentation and coordination of user participation.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Training or Certification on Java, Cloud Solutions, and Oracle PL/SQL Language is an added plus.
• 5-7 years of demonstrated experience with Java language, SQL query construction using Oracle Database, TOAD/SQL Developer, and operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
• Ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Middleware and Java Application servers like Oracle WebLogic, Apache, or IBM WebSphere, and internet technologies like HTML, XML, WSDL, and scripting languages.
• Understanding of SDLC activities on development projects.
• Knowledge of Cloud Technology and Solutions.
