About the position

Covalent Solutions is seeking a motivated Oracle SQL Developer to support the development and maintenance of Oracle databases for .NET applications at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This full-time position requires collaboration with various teams to enhance database performance and functionality, ensuring efficient operations and integration with applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize Oracle database packages, stored procedures, and piped functions to support .NET applications.
  • Manage and configure Oracle Database Scheduler to automate jobs and send emails from Oracle databases.
  • Analyze existing database code to enhance performance, resolve bugs, and maintain functionality.
  • Collaborate with the DBA and .NET development teams to integrate new features and optimize database operations.
  • Ensure efficient database operations by optimizing query performance, ensuring data integrity, and troubleshooting database-related issues.
  • Serve as a backup Oracle DBA, assisting with DBA tasks as needed.
  • Create, modify, and optimize complex SQL queries, triggers, and views for business applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to developers for integrating .NET applications with Oracle packages and piped functions.
  • Document database structures, changes, and programming efforts to ensure smooth knowledge transfer.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of database partitioning strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and best practice improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Oracle databases.
  • 2+ years of experience managing/configuring Oracle Database Scheduler.
  • 2+ years of experience developing/modifying/optimizing Oracle database packages/stored procedures/piped functions to support .NET applications.
  • Basic Oracle DBA duties such as backups.
  • Strong SQL skills for Oracle database design, querying, and optimization.
  • Solid knowledge in Oracle database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • 1+ years of working knowledge of integrating Oracle DBs with Microsoft .NET applications.

  • Desired certifications: Oracle Database Program with PL/SQL, Oracle Database Administration I, Oracle Database SQL, Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer.
