About the position

Park Avenue Oral Surgery is a state-of-the-art Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) practice located in Midtown East Manhattan. We are seeking a motivated Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team and contribute to the growth of our practice. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and a team player with superior customer service and organizational skills. Impeccable attendance and timeliness are also required, as this position is part-time and specifically requires availability on Thursdays. As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will provide complete support to the surgeon throughout routine in-office surgical procedures, which include extractions, placement of dental implants, and removal of pathological lesions. You will participate in monitoring patients' vital statistics and assist with anesthesia/sedation, nitrous oxide, and intravenous fluids during surgery. Additionally, you will review pre-operative and post-operative instructions with patients, take impressions for surgical guides, and update practice management software with patient health history. Your responsibilities will also include acquiring diagnostic x-rays, preparing and breaking down the surgical tray and operatory, sterilizing instruments after surgery, and performing routine equipment maintenance. The role requires a friendly demeanor and the ability to maintain a positive attitude in high-pressure environments, as well as the ability to multitask, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Providing complete support to the surgeon throughout routine in-office surgical procedures, including extractions, placement of dental implants, and removal of pathological lesions.

Requirements

  • Dental assisting: 1 year (Required)
  • IV sedation: 1 year (Required)
  • CPR Certification (Required)
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Must be friendly and maintain a positive attitude in high-pressure environments.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks.
