The Material Handler-Loader is responsible for filling customer orders based on tickets or voice commands, which requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The job entails manually filling orders by walking and utilizing pallet jacks or riding jacks to transport products. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of goods and ensuring that all orders are processed in a timely manner. On a typical day, the Material Handler-Loader will fill orders according to set quotas, ensuring that the correct products are identified by description and quantity. This involves removing products from their designated areas and transporting them to the staging area. Accuracy is paramount, as the individual will check for correctness in picking and perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized workspace. Additionally, the Material Handler-Loader will complete daily powered equipment inspection forms and sort materials on pallets according to predetermined sequences, such as size, type, or product code. The role also requires marking materials with identifying information and recording the amounts of materials received or distributed, ensuring compliance with company standards. The position demands a proactive approach, as the Material Handler-Loader will be expected to perform various duties as assigned by management. This includes maintaining safety and security of company assets and utilizing all company-provided resources and technology effectively. The role is designed for individuals who are adaptable, demonstrate initiative, and are willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Fills orders from tickets according to set quotas.
  • Orders filled manually by walking and using pallet jack and/or riding jacks.
  • Identify product by description and quantity, then remove product from area and carry to the staging area.
  • Check for accuracy in picking.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete daily powered equipment inspection form.
  • Read customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Sort and place materials or items on pallets according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within company guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of company assets.
  • Ability to utilize all company provided resources and technology.
  • Less than high school education; or up to 1 month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift and electric riding pallet jack experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to change.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work safely and securely.
