About the position

The Order Processing Technician I at ASSA ABLOY is responsible for accurately processing customer orders, interpreting product specifications, and ensuring compliance with manufacturing requirements. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. The technician will work onsite at the Mason City manufacturing facility and will be involved in creating detailed drawings and resolving engineering issues prior to fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer-provided information and construct detailed orders that meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
  • Perform all duties related to processing customer orders with high accuracy.
  • Interpret hardware templates and prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing.
  • Create and revise detailed drawings using customer plans and elevations, ensuring correct dimensions and annotations.
  • Anticipate and resolve engineering issues before fabrication by researching and questioning areas of concern.
  • Communicate with customers regarding discrepancies and application conflicts, documenting all correspondence and changes.
  • Act as a product technical expert, providing support to manufacturing and customers.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment across various business areas.
  • Participate in special assignments and projects as assigned.
  • Contribute to a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with governance policies, regulations, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in Computer Aided Drafting, mathematics, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in the Door, Building Materials, or Hollow Metal industries is highly desirable.
  • Complex math and problem-solving skills, including a strong understanding of Algebra and Geometry.
  • AutoCAD detailing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend structural and architectural drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of detailing principles of drawings preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, email, etc.).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills, and a sense of urgency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with blueprint/template reading skills.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, practices, methods, and techniques.
