About the position
The OAC Nurse Manager at Duke University Hospital is responsible for establishing, managing, and coordinating the Duke Transplant Center's Organ Acquisition Center. This role involves supervising staff, developing policies and procedures, and overseeing clinical workflows to enhance organ acceptance processes. The position requires effective communication with various healthcare professionals and the ability to make critical decisions regarding organ offers and recipient selection.
Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate operational activities of the Organ Acquisition Center.
- Make decisions on specific operating problems and issue instructions in accordance with DTC policies and procedures.
- Plan, develop, and implement goals and objectives of the center; evaluate program objectives continually.
- Prepare budgetary recommendations and monitor costs and expenditures of program activities.
- Establish and maintain communication between ancillary departments and healthcare professionals regarding center policies and procedures.
- Plan and conduct meetings with staff to ensure compliance with established practices.
- Develop training and employee orientation programs in conjunction with others.
- Administer various personnel actions including hiring and performance appraisals.
- Compile and maintain records, reports, and documentation of center activities for program evaluation.
- Receive all organ offers through the OPTN/UNOS Donor Net Online Portal and make timely decisions on organ offers.
Requirements
- BSN required; Master's degree in nursing preferred.
- Five (5) years nursing experience with at least two years in transplant or critical care.
- Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required.
- BLS certification required.
