About the position

This role is designed for individuals with a medical assistant or patient care background who are adept at reading and interpreting lab values and diagnostic tests. The primary responsibility is to coordinate the placement of organs from deceased donors through the national organ allocation system and assist in the machine perfusion of deceased donor kidneys. The position requires working night shifts and involves on-call responsibilities to ensure timely organ placement.

Responsibilities

• Work a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Advance Gift of Hope's mission, vision, and core values by providing compassionate service and contributing to a positive culture.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
• Manage 12-hour on-call responsibilities to coordinate organ placement.
• Assist in hypothermic machine perfusion of deceased donor kidneys.
• Call transplant centers to allocate organs in accordance with OPTN/UNOS policy and document the disposition of these organs.
• Utilize DonorNet and Gift of Hope electronic charting software for disseminating donor information and accurate documentation of placement efforts.
• Identify, document, and communicate essential clinical information to Gift of Hope staff, transplant center staff, and administrators.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in one of the Health Sciences or Certification in one of the Health Sciences with a minimum of two years' experience (e.g., RN, EMT/Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, or Certified Surgical Technologist) or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with interpretation of lab values, diagnostic testing, and medical terminology.
• Experience working with and understanding sterile technique.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to ensure machine perfusion is performed under sterile conditions.

Benefits

• Compensation range of $30.29-33.65 per hour plus applicable night shift differential.
