About the position

The Organizational Change Manager will lead change initiatives for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) across the Lower Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island Region. This role is crucial in managing the change management process, developing strategies to support the adoption of changes, and ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the organization. The position emphasizes fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment while driving the agency forward through transformational change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead change initiatives for the agency covering New York City, Long Island, and Westchester and Rockland Counties.
  • Participate in the active execution of engagements, focusing on the people side of change for organizational changes and processes.
  • Work with senior management on change initiatives and help strategize and promote positive learning journeys across the organization.
  • Assist in managing the change management process and help to create and implement a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Develop and initiate activities to support change and transition through impact and readiness change assessments, conducting analyses, and identifying key stakeholders.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to support the growth and transformation of the organization, measure efficacy of initiatives, manage communications and evaluate implementations that support organizational change.
  • Collect and analyze data related to organizational changes.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of change initiatives using feedback and other metrics to adjust and improve strategies.
  • Engage stakeholders and build relationships to support change efforts.
  • Conduct and evaluate impact assessments and develop change management strategies and associated materials for regional needs.
  • Identify barriers and propose recommendations to eliminate resistance, overcome barriers and gain acceptance of the change among stakeholders.
  • Supervise a team of Organizational Change Analysts in your region.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in any field + seven years of experience working on a project team or managing projects + three years of supervisory experience + certification in an established OCM Model (Prosci, Acuity, Cornell, etc.).
  • OR A master's degree in any field + five years of experience working on a project team or managing projects + one year of supervisory experience + Certification in an established OCM Model (Prosci, Acuity, Cornell, etc.).
  • Experience with major transformational change and organizational change projects.
  • Ability to effectively lead change initiatives and possess personal skills required to be an effective leader and communicator.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and can multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of how people go through a change and the change process experience.
  • Problem solving, strong analytic and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
