The SEIU UHW Organizer Representative plays a crucial role in building a strong workers' organization that empowers and mobilizes leaders to collectively protect their rights and improve their work lives. This position is dedicated to fostering a culture of activism and solidarity among union members, ensuring that they are equipped to fight for their rights and the quality of care they provide. The Organizer Representative will lead initiatives in training and leadership development, new organizing efforts, internal organizing, and political action, all aimed at strengthening the union's presence and effectiveness in advocating for workers' rights. In this role, the Organizer Representative will be responsible for identifying, recruiting, and developing leaders within the union. This involves engaging with unorganized workers through one-on-one interactions, meetings, phone calls, and home visits to persuade and motivate them to join the union. The Organizer will also plan and execute various actions to mobilize members and support their involvement in union activities. Building alliances with community and political organizations is essential, as is empowering member leaders to take active roles in these collaborations. The position requires the Organizer to train and supervise member organizers, develop and implement campaign work plans, and coordinate the representational work of stewards. The Organizer will also be involved in organizing and supporting political, contract, and issue campaigns, ensuring that the union's goals are met effectively. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the union's mission and objectives.
