About the position
The Orthotic Fitter position at Alcam Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics involves evaluating and fitting orthotic devices for patients, ensuring their comfort and functionality. The role requires direct interaction with patients to assess their needs and provide instructions on device usage, while also maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This position is crucial in helping improve the lives of patients through rehabilitative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Examine and evaluate patients' needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
- Perform fitting and execute minor modifications as necessary.
- Evaluate orthotic devices on patients, adjusting to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
- Instruct patients in the use of orthopedic devices.
- Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
- Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
- Clean and organize patient fitting rooms after use.
- Aid other clinical staff.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and compliance regulations.
Requirements
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Proven human relations skills and professionalism dealing with referral sources, patients, and physicians.
- Ability to work well with and mentor others while meeting individual and departmental goals.
- Exhibits strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills through both verbal and written communications.
- Ability to resolve issues from customers in a professional and timely manner.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
- Experience with medical terminology (preferred)
- Orthotic Fitter Certification (preferred)
- Driver's License (preferred)
