About the position

As an Orthotic Technician at Marsden's Shoes Co, you will play a crucial role in the fabrication, fitting, repair, and maintenance of orthotic and shoe devices. This position requires a keen understanding of anatomy and physiology, as you will be working closely with patients to ensure their comfort and satisfaction with the devices provided. Under the guidance of a Certified Pedorthist (CPed), you will be responsible for creating custom solutions tailored to individual patient needs, particularly for those requiring diabetic shoes and functional foot inserts. Your expertise will not only enhance the quality of life for patients but also ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. In this role, you will be tasked with ordering and receiving inventory, fitting diabetic shoes with custom-made inserts, and performing minor repairs and modifications on orthotics and shoes. Educating patients and caregivers on the proper care and use of the provided equipment is a vital part of your responsibilities, as is maintaining detailed clinical notes in patient medical records. You will also be expected to identify any issues or problems with the devices and make necessary adjustments to ensure patient satisfaction. A clean, safe, and orderly work environment is essential, and adherence to all safety regulations, including compliance with Medicare and OSHA requirements, is mandatory. Responsibilities

  • Ordering and receiving inventory and other tasks as assigned.
  • Fitting of diabetic shoes with custom-made inserts.
  • Fitting of functional custom-made foot inserts.
  • Perform minor repairs and modifications on orthotics and shoes.
  • Instruct or educate patients and caregivers on the proper care and use of provided equipment.
  • Identify any issues/problems and adjust accordingly to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes in patient medical records.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with blood borne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.

Requirements

  • Current board certification in Pedorthics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to meet board eligibility.
  • At least 2-3 years of demonstrated past experience in providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician.
