About the position

The OSP Construction Planner at SRI Telecom is responsible for assisting in the route planning for outside plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure. This role involves reviewing and correcting as-built designs of complex fiber networking and identifying efficient paths for new fiber construction. The position is a long-term contract with potential for future in-house opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Verify serviceability and survey proposed service routing.
• Estimate material, construction, and labor costs.
• Perform field engineering of proposed projects to ensure cost-effective designs.
• Work closely with contractors, vendors, and city planners for permitting and right-of-way agreements.
• Coordinate contractor work and obtain necessary permits and access agreements.
• Distribute design prints and other necessary working documents.
• Coordinate customer implementation activities including site walk-throughs and node placements.
• Negotiate and approve design or construction changes.
• Coordinate with public works personnel, developers, and utilities on joint trench projects.
• Close tasks in database/tool, reconcile assets, and generate reports for project closure.

Requirements

• Mid-level administrative experience in construction planning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and system maps.
• Experience working on project teams and managing milestones.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with CATV/HFC/TELCO/UTILITY OSP planning/construction.
• Knowledge of fiber optic materials and construction.
