The Ground Hand position at BryComm is a vital role within our Outside Plant Team, focusing on aerial construction labor. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include preparing and assembling line apparatus, installing ground rods and anchors, and assisting in the hoisting of aerial poles. This role requires the operation of various types of construction equipment, including hydraulic aerial lifts and bucket trucks, ensuring that all tasks are performed safely and efficiently. The Ground Hand will also be expected to maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that job sites are kept tidy and that all equipment is properly stored and maintained. In addition to the physical aspects of the job, the Ground Hand will need to demonstrate basic print and map reading abilities to navigate job sites effectively. The role involves climbing utility poles at various heights, which requires a good level of physical fitness and comfort with heights. The Ground Hand will also be responsible for conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and pre-trip inspections, recognizing changing conditions that may affect safety on the job site. Training and mentoring less experienced team members, specifically Laborer 1 team members, will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that safety protocols and operational procedures are understood and followed by all team members.
