About the position

The OSP Specialist at WIVERSE is responsible for constructing, building, repairing, and inspecting Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks to deliver voice, video, and data services to both residential and commercial customers. This role involves coordinating with various utilities for permits and service issues, performing field engineering for proposed projects, and managing customer implementation activities. The position is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion to full-time based on performance and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, build, repair, and inspect Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks.
  • Coordinate with other utilities for permits, joint trench, pole applications, and service issues.
  • Perform field engineering of proposed projects to ensure cost-effective designs for construction.
  • Coordinate all customer implementation activities including site walk-throughs and node placements.
  • Manage contractor work and obtain necessary permits and access agreements.
  • Negotiate and approve design or construction changes.
  • Research and review plans, gather data, and list material requirements for projects.
  • Coordinate with public works personnel, developers, and utilities on joint trench projects.
  • Maintain workflow databases and update schedules.
  • Estimate construction costs, prepare budgets, and track expenses.
  • Initiate customer contacts and secure access or ROW agreements.
  • Plan and allocate fibers for splicing and activation.
  • Inspect construction work or coordinate inspection assignments.
  • Close tasks in database/tool and generate reports for project closure.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in OSP Construction.
  • 3 years of experience in constructing, building, repairing, and inspecting Hybrid Fiber Coax networks.
  • 3 years of experience in telecommunications.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of experience obtaining permits, access, or ROW agreements.
  • 3 years of experience managing and estimating cost forecasts.
  • 3 years of experience in material planning, capital and expense budgets.
  • 3 years of experience preparing budgets and tracking expenses.
  • 3 years of experience planning and allocating fibers for splicing and activation.
  • 3 years of experience maintaining workflow databases and updating schedules.
  • 3 years of experience inspecting construction work or coordinating inspection assignments.
