About the position

The OST Warehouse Clerk at the YMCA of Greater Houston is a part-time role focused on supporting youth development and healthy living programs. The position involves assisting with program delivery, maintaining accurate records, and promoting YMCA values within the community. The clerk will work under general supervision to ensure effective program operations and enhance member experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model into all program activities.
  • Prepares registration forms and assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Organizes and schedules program registrations and communicates with the front desk regarding scheduling.
  • Maintains accurate records of all registrations for statistical reporting.
  • Assists the Program Director in the operation of the program and develops activities for programs.
  • Works with the supervisor to maintain and/or increase program quality and participation.
  • Assists supervisor and other staff with special projects as requested.
  • Demonstrates physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned duties.
  • Coordinates the use of center facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in center fundraising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old and five years older than the youngest participant.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to read, interpret, retain, and teach documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and in one-on-one situations.
