About the position

The Out-of-State & International Student Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment strategies aimed at increasing applications and enrollments from out-of-state and international students. This role involves analyzing enrollment trends, collaborating with academic departments, and maintaining relationships with recruitment partners. The counselor will also provide comprehensive information to prospective students and represent the university at various recruitment events, ensuring a seamless transition for international prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and implementing out-of-state and international student recruitment and outreach plans.
  • Analyze and present data on international students' enrollment trends.
  • Diversify global regions/markets and programs of interest in recruitment plans.
  • Collaborate closely with academic departments as part of the recruitment pipeline.
  • Monitor recruitment travel and expenditures to create reports evaluating recruitment effectiveness.
  • Calculate ROI from targeted outreach events and provide innovative ideas for recruitment strategies.
  • Develop, design, and update marketing/promotional materials via print and online.
  • Generate reports on leads, inquiries, applications, enrollments, and immigration for international students.
  • Actively recruit prospective out-of-state and international undergraduate students.
  • Communicate with potential students, providing comprehensive information about CSUCI.
  • Represent the University at higher education recruitment events and meetings.
  • Conduct presentations to prospective students, University partners, and agents.
  • Maintain and expand student recruitment agent and partner relationships.
  • Communicate timely and accurately with agents and partners about CSUCI programs and admissions requirements.
  • Conduct annual agent training and onsite agent training when in the country.
  • Collaborate with EducationUSA, IDP, Apply Board counselors to provide presentations and campus updates.
  • Maintain and update a list of community colleges, high schools, and their advisors.
  • Organize and attend high school and community college activities to recruit students.
  • Review applications and conduct admissions of out-of-state and international students.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for issuing initial and transferring I-20s.
  • Support initiatives and events for out-of-state and international student enrollment and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field, public administration, business administration, or closely related field required; master's degree preferred.
  • At least two years of related, post-graduate, professional experience required.
  • Knowledge of general university policies and practices related to undergraduate education and degree programs.
  • Working knowledge of student development theory and interviewing techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of college advising, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Experience with computerized student information systems and databases is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and interact sensitively with a diverse clientele.
