As an Outbound Dock Supervisor at Southeastern Freight Lines, you will play a crucial role in overseeing dock operations and supervising the activities of dock associates assigned to the dock and/or yard. Your primary responsibilities will include managing the routing of shipments and the loading/unloading of freight. You will establish necessary controls to ensure that Pickup & Delivery (P&D) units are closed at agreed-upon times, while also ensuring that special customer requests are handled promptly and efficiently. Timeliness is key, and you will be responsible for ensuring that inbound close-outs are made to maintain operational efficiency. In this role, you will also be responsible for P&D loading, which encompasses managing the number of stops, the weight of shipments, and the conditions of loads to ensure that P&D drivers meet the requirements for error-free work. A significant aspect of your position will involve implementing an effective loss prevention plan within the Service Center, collaborating with Service Center personnel, cargo claims/loss prevention teams, and utilizing process improvement strategies for development and execution. You will maintain accountability for the integrity of P&D loads originating at the Service Center, with a commitment to continuous measurable improvement. Additionally, you will plan the layout of the warehouse and other storage areas, taking into consideration factors such as turnover, size, weight, and related aspects of the items stored. Your responsibilities will also include determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow. You will assign duties to dock associates and examine their work for accuracy, neatness, and adherence to company policies and procedures. It will be essential for you to maintain vigilance regarding any significant risks and implement adequate controls to mitigate them.
