About the position

Genedata is seeking an Outbound Sales Development Representative (SDR) who will play a crucial role in the early stages of our sales cycles. This full-time position is based in our Lexington, MA office and will report directly to the Head of Commercial Excellence. The SDR will be responsible for representing Genedata as the first point of contact for customers and prospects, while actively growing and maintaining the sales pipeline for Business Account Managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong drive to prospect and sell, utilizing various methods such as cold calling, email outreach, and social media engagement to identify and qualify marketing leads. In this role, the SDR will be tasked with organizational responsibilities in Salesforce, tracking important metrics such as lead conversion rates and sales quota attainment. The representative will conduct research on companies to identify key decision-makers and create tailored elevator pitches based on the targeted accounts and audiences. Collaboration is key, as the SDR will work closely with Business Account Managers to refine messaging related to outbound prospecting activities, including email campaigns and cold calls to decision-makers in IT, science, and business sectors. Additionally, the SDR will assist in boosting attendance at Genedata's events by collaborating with sales and marketing teams and will represent the company at conferences and tradeshows, following up on qualified leads generated from these events. This position offers a competitive base salary range of $65,000 to $80,000, with travel expectations exceeding 20% across the US and potentially to Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Genedata as the first point of contact for customers and/or prospects while growing and maintaining the sales pipeline for Business Account Managers.
  • Prospect, identify, and qualify marketing leads through cold calling, email, and/or social media.
  • Manage organizational tasks in Salesforce to track metrics such as lead conversion or sales quota attainment.
  • Research companies and identify key decision makers using prospecting tools.
  • Create unique elevator pitches based on the targeted account and audience.
  • Collaborate with Business Account Managers on messaging related to outbound prospecting activities including emailing and cold calling decision makers.
  • Consult with decision-makers from IT, science, and business to become a trusted partner.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to boost attendance at Genedata's events.
  • Act as a representative at conferences and tradeshows and follow up on qualified leads from these events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in life sciences required.
  • Prefer 1-2 years work experience in a Sales Development Representative (SDR) or Business Development Representative role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize goals and drive business success.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
