About the position

The Outpatient Pharmacy Revenue Analyst at Oregon Health & Science University is responsible for ensuring pharmacy billing compliance by analyzing pharmacy dispense, adjudication, reconciliation, and coding. This role involves verifying medication charge calculations, identifying and resolving reimbursement errors, and maintaining accurate pricing in collaboration with pharmacy operations. The analyst will also analyze charge and reimbursement data, propose workflow improvements, and provide technical support for pharmaceutical charges across multiple systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed review and analysis of pharmacy dispense, adjudication, reconciliation, and coding to ensure billing compliance standards are met.
  • Verify medication charge calculations based on National Drug Code (NDC) and units administered to patients.
  • Identify and resolve charging and reimbursement errors appropriately.
  • Validate Epic applied pricing against external sources and propose resolutions for inconsistencies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Technicians, Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Operations to address deficiencies.
  • Review reports for deficiencies, identify trends, and create remediation plans as necessary.
  • Analyze and interpret charge and reimbursement data to ensure accuracy.
  • Propose changes to improve workflow and revenue cycle for retail pharmacies.
  • Provide technical support in the design, implementation, and monitoring of pharmaceutical charges across multiple pharmacy systems.
  • Ensure pharmacy charge methods comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Post revenue daily and review monthly.
  • Ensure accurate bank deposits and revenue capture for Medicare billing and outpatient programs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related field (substitutes for two years of required experience).
  • Three years of experience administering or coordinating parts of a project or program.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in a pharmacy technician role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to read and understand medical-related terms.
  • Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations.
  • Effective organizational, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting multiple deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pharmacy technician certification.

  • Experience with Epic and Willow systems.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy/medical terminology.
  • Understanding of healthcare billing processes.
  • Familiarity with OHSU pharmacy operations and dispensing systems.
