About the position

The position involves assisting in the nonprofessional and clerical aspects of managing and operating the outpatient functions of a pharmacy department. The role requires effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under the supervision of licensed personnel. The individual will be responsible for various tasks including customer service, medication preparation, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing and operating outpatient functions of the pharmacy department.
• Perform medication-associated duties under the supervision of licensed personnel.
• Provide customer service and support consistent with health system goals.
• Retrieve orders, verify patient information, and process transactions as a cashier.
• Input patient information and prescriptions into the electronic medical record system.
• Measure and fill containers with medications and ensure proper storage.
• Re-stock shelves and perform routine duties requiring some judgment.

Requirements

• High School education or equivalency required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
• NYS Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
• 1-2 years of pharmacy experience preferred.
• Demonstrated skill in daily communication and information dissemination.
• Flexibility in decision-making and prioritizing assignments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Information Systems (Pharmacy) and QS/1 pharmacy outpatient system.
